Hi everyone! This will probably be my last blog post. The school year is drawing to an end and my Signature Project is wrapping up; we have our Signature and Emma Artist day this Friday, May 27th. It's definitely bittersweet, especially with me graduating and all. I wanted to do this one last blog post in order to reflect on the great, crazy year this has been.

I've had lots of wonderful experiences with my project this year. Here are some of my favorites:

1) The look on my roommate's face when I'm translating a particularly gory section with Ms. Diane and they can only hear my side of the conversation. -- Wait, so does the sword go all the way through his breast plate too, or only through his chest? Oh, and that's why his breast is hiccoughing blood... got it...

2) The number of times that Dr. Robert has listened to me literally prance around his classroom with excitement while I talk about my most recent Latin or Ancient Greek discovery is both countless and an absolute joy to think about.

3) The one very minor totally-not-a-temper-tantrum I threw on Ms. Kaitlin's couch when Vergil pushed me a bit too far one day.

4) Performing two movements of Six Metamorphoses After Ovid by Benjamin Britten in my school's recital

5) Learning all about the stars and the constellations, including the Roman naked eye test for archers.

And so many, many more wonderful moments that number too high to list here.

In terms of one surprise, my gap year can't go unmentioned. I have a blog post from a few months ago on here titled 'Ciao, Italy!' that proclaims my gap year plan -- that is, to live in Italy and learn Italian.

Yeah, that's not happening. Due to a lot of logistical stuff I won't bore you with, that plan completely fell apart not once, not twice, but three different times, and I have ended up with a completely different plan for my gap year. Ready for it?

Paraguay.

Heck yeah, I'm going to live in Paraguay for a year and learn Spanish. Is it at all what I have been expecting to do? Nope. Am I super excited anyway? Yup! I currently know no Spanish but in a year I will be pretty fluent and I cannot even believe that.

One other. thing -- despite all this going on in my future, Ms. Diane and I have agreed to continue working on other texts, just for fun. Although there won't be formalized blog posts, I'll still probably update my 'translations' tab every now and again just for fun.

So, with big plans on the horizon, I close out this wonderful blog. Thank to everyone for reading along -- especially Ms. Diane, who seems to have a mystical sense for when I upload and manages to comment on all my blog posts within 20 seconds of me posting them. :) This has been an incredible year and I am so excited to see what happens next! Salve!

Beatrice

It’s been such a pleasure to read these! I look forward to continuing the Latin and to observing your mastery of Spanish!!
